Truter reveals when Kamohelo Mokotjo is likely to make DStv Prem debut
Sekhukhune United coach Brandon Truter has revealed when new signing Kamohelo Mokotjo is likely to make his DStv Premiership debut.
Mokotjo recently penned a deal with Sekhukhune, returning to South Africa after 13 years abroad.
The 31-year-old midfielder played for clubs such as Feyenoord, PEC Zwolle and FC Twente [all in the Netherlands].
Mokotjo also had a successful stint at English club Brentford and Major League Soccer [MLS] club FC Cincinnati.
And after several training sessions with his new club, Sekhukhune, Truter is optimistic that Mokotjo will make his long-awaited debut against Mamelodi Sundowns on Saturday, 28 January.
Despite the strong links with his boyhood club SuperSport United, the 31-year-old opted for a move to Sekhukhune.
MOKOTJO SLOWLY MAKING PROGRESS
He has not featured for the club since he was unveiled earlier this month.
“Kamo, as you know, came from a long layoff. He is in good condition though physically but what he is lacking at the moment is match fitness,” explained Truter.
“We will try to get him up to standard. Also, with this game [against Swallows], we were still waiting for his international clearance.
“So hopefully we will have that by next week and hopefully he will get some minutes during a training match and hopefully we will see him against Sundowns,” he said.
WHAT TRUTER ADMIRES ABOUT KAMOHELO MOKOTJO
“He brings calmness and composure, and he is a good passer of the ball. Overall leadership qualities that he possesses as well, and he has spent almost 15 years in Europe,” added Truter.
“So, he definitely brings something to the party and I just hope his experience at international level and at a very high league rubs off on the rest of the team and his teammates.”
