Rulani Mokwena provides update on Rushine De Reuck’s injury

Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Rulani Mokwena has provided an update on the extent of Rushine De Reuck’s injury.

Sundowns claimed their 13th successive victory after defeating TS Galaxy 2-1 on Tuesday night at Mbombela Stadium in the DStv Premiership.

De Reuck scored the opening goal for Masandawana early in the first half after receiving a pinpoint cross from Gaston Sirino.

Shortly after scoring the goal, the Bafana Bafana international suffered a head injury. The 27-year-old defender was stretchered off and replaced by Brian Onyango Mandela.

Talking to the media after the game, the Soweto-born tactician said the injury was not as serious as it looked.

“Rushine De Reuck is back on his feet. It’s very good that he regained his consciousness,” said Mokwena to the media.

“The medical team needs to be given a lot of praise, both from Mamelodi Sundowns and TS Galaxy, for the prompt response.

“It’s good to see that he is walking and gained consciousness. I just saw him in the changing room.

“So it’s very good, and he scored a very important goal for us. It opened a game a bit.

“We are just grateful that he’s in a condition where he can recognise his surrounding. I’m very proud of his contribution towards the win.”

Ka Bo Yellow have been unstoppable since Mokwena has been appointed the sole head coach of the club.

SUNDOWNS HAVE BEEN UNSTOPPABLE

Bafana Ba Style will be looking to continue their dominance and collect maximum points in their next game.

They host stubborn Sekhukhune United at Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Saturday 28th of January. Kick is at 15:30.
