Why Oupa Manyisa left Platinum City Rovers

Tyzer Temo, Platinum City Rovers FC owner, explained why former Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Oupa Manyisa left the club.

Manyisa joined the Motsepe Foundation Championship side at the beginning of the 2021/22 season following a brieft stint at DStv Premiership outfit Chippa United.

His stay at Rovers was unfortunately not met with enough game time as the 34 year-old only played a hand full of games at the club.

The owner of Rovers’, Temo, informed this publication that Manyisa, who is famously known as “Ace”, issued a retirement exit from the club.

The reason for Manyisa’s exit after being with the Motsepe Foundation Championship side for 18 months is said to be linked to his development project.

TEMO ON MANYISA’S EXIT FROM ROVERS

“Manyisa sent me a message to say he needs to focus on his development projects,” said the Rovers owner, Temo.

“He’s involvement in development and so he said he will be retiring. We’re actually planning a farewell party for him.

“We were using him sparingly last season. I understand maybe this month-end we will do a farewell party.

“He was playing here and there; he played two this season. He’s very good, and having him in the dressing room adds a lot of value,” Temo concluded

WHAT MANYISA’S DEVELOPMENT PROJECT IS ABOUT

Manyisa and his former Pirates teammate, Brighton Mhlongo developed an app in 2022 called MyFootballCV.

The app acts as an intermediary between young players and scouts or coaches. Players can post videos of themselves on the app, therefore, making it easy for them to get scouted.

However, as reported by FARPost, Manyisa is linked with a move to National First Division side, La Masia FC.

The former Pirates midfielder was spotted training with the side Monday.

Manyisa’s link to La Masia will possibly see a reunion of himself and his former mentor from Rovers, Ashwin Sutton.
