Lyle Foster gets heartwarming farewell from Westerlo FC

Bafana striker Lyle Foster has received a heartwarming farewell message from Belgian side Westerlo FC following his switch to Burnley FC.

Westerlo FC have released a brief statement wishing Lyle Foster well at the English Championship side, Burnley FC.

WHAT WESTERLO FC SAID IN A STATEMENT FOR LYLE FOSTER

“Thanks for everything Lyle! Good luck in Burnley FC,” Westerlo’s statement reads.

“We would like to thank Lyle [Foster] for his commitment to the team over the past year-and-a-half!”

Burnley FC completed the signing of the Bafana forward, Lyle Foster, for an undisclosed fee.

The 22-year-old has signed a four-and-a-half-year deal at the Turf Moor.

The striker is the Clarets’ third signing of this January transfer window.

The former Orlando Pirates star has since described his move to England as a dream come true.

“I am very happy to be here,” he told Burnley website.

“I’m blessed and thankful for the opportunity, and I just can’t wait to get started.”

Foster added: “From the moment I heard that there was interest from Burnley, my heart and head were set on the club.

“I’m so happy to be here now. It’s a dream for me.”

LYLE FOSTER’S LONG WALK FROM PIRATES TO BURNLEY FC

Foster graduated from Pirates youth set-up before earning a promotion to the senior squad.

The Bafana forward left Pirates to sign for French Ligue 1 side AS Monaco in 2019.

He eventually joined the Belgian side, Cercle Brugge on loan from Monaco before sealing a move to Portuguese club Vitoria SC.

Westerlo ended up signing the nine-capped striker after he impressed while on loan from Vitoria.

Foster swayed Burnley boss Vincent Kompany after notching eight goals in 21 games this campaign.

Kompany has bolstered his attack with Foster to increase the team’s promotion chances.

Burnley lead the Championship race with 62 points from 28 games. The Clarets are favourites for promotion to the Premier League next season.

The South African might make his debut for Burnley on Saturday when they face Ipswich Town in the FA Cup.
