Themba Zwane and Grant Kekana ruled out of Sekhukhune clash
Mamelodi Sundowns duo Themba Zwane and Grant Kekana have been ruled out of the club’s DStv Premiership clash against Sekhukhune United on Saturday afternoon, 28 January, at Loftus Versfeld Stadium.
Zwane and Kekana, set to miss the Sekhukhune game due to suspension have been vital for Sundowns this season, putting in several breathtaking performances.
Their contributions on the field saw Bafana ba Style become the first PSL team to record 13 consecutive victories in the league.
The reigning DStv Premiership champions, Sundowns, sit comfortably at the summit of the log standings with 49 points from 19 matches. They are now 19 clear from second-placed Richards Bay FC.
THEMBA ZWANE’S INFLUENCE
Zwane has played a huge role for the Tshwane giants so far this season. He has also been handed the captain’s arm band in the absence of Andile Jali.
The Bafana Bafana attacker has scored two goals and provided two assists in 18 matches.
The talented midfielder accumulated his fourth yellow card against struggling TS Galaxy on Tuesday evening.
The other bookings came in matches against Marumo Gallants, Orlando Pirates in the MTN8 semifinal second leg and SuperSport United in the Tshwane derby.
GRANT KEKANA WILL BE MISSED
The intellegent defender will also miss the trip to Polokwane on Saturday.
Kekana has made 13 appearances for Masandawana in all competitions this season. That’s 10 in the league, two in the MTN8 and one in the CAF Champions League.
The versatile defender has helped the team keep 10 clean sheets whenever given the opportunity to be on the pitch.
Kekana also picked his fourth yellow card of the campaign in Tuesday’s 2-1 victory against TS Galaxy.
He got other yellow cards in matches against Orlando Pirates, AmaZulu and in the Champions League against Al-Merreikh of Sudan.
