Kaizer Chiefs give Christian Saile update ahead of Royal AM tie

Kaizer Chiefs have given an update on their new signing, Christian Saile Basomboli, ahead of their tie against Royal AM.

The Congolese signed a three-and-half-year deal with the Soweto giants and was unveiled on Thursday, 26 January 2023.

After the announcement, the club also announced that he will commence training with the team then.

Saile joined Amakhosi from the Zambian side called Nchanga Rangers after it was reported a while back that he was one of the names on Chiefs’ radar for the January transfer window.

In his last full season with Rangers, the 22-year-old scored 19 goals which helped the Zambian side gain promotion.

His thirst for goals did not stop last season. It continued into Zambia’s top tier, as the left-footed striker netted seven goals for Rangers just before he signed for Chiefs.

CHRISTIAN SAILE AVAILABLE FOR ROYAL AM TIE

After Arthur Zwane and his charges lost three games in a row without scoring goals. The availability of Saile will come as good news for Chiefs’ mentor, as this means they can have more options in their striking department.

“It will be up to coach Arthur Zwane whether or not to use the marksman [Christian Saile] in Amakhosi’s important game against Royal AM in Polokwane,” Chiefs announced via their website.

Currently, Chiefs is the sixth-best goal-scoring team in the DStv Premiership with 18 goals. Most of their goals have come from their July signing of Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana, who currently has seven goals in 10 games.

However, the Burundian has struggled to put the ball at the back of the net in recent games since 31 December 2022, when Chiefs last won a league game against Golden Arrows.

Zwane will expect Saile to hit the ground running, as he said post-Sundowns game last week Saturday, after a bad run of results.

ZWANE WORDS ABOUT SAILE POST-SUNDOWNS GAME

“We expect Christian to come in and hit the ground running,” said Zwane after Chiefs lost 1-0 to Sundowns.
“But, on the other hand, we don’t want to put him under pressure. There are many other players who can take that responsibility,” said Zwane.
