Vincent Kompany hands Lyle Foster Burnley FC debut
Former Orlando Pirates forward Lyle Foster made his debut for his new English Championship side Burnley FC on Saturday evening.
The Bafana Bafana player came off the bench for Burnley when they played out to a barren draw with Ipswich Town at Turf Moor.
LYLE FOSTER REPLACED BURNLEY FC’S VETERAN JAY RODRIGUEZ
The former Amajita star replaced experienced striker Jay Rodriguez in the 70th minute.
Burnley were at that stage chasing the game, hoping to sneak in a goal.
However, while Lyle Foster had a decent debut for his new team, there was no goal from either team.
The two teams went into the game while eyeing a spot in the FA Cup fifth round.
The defence for both teams were resolute. They stood firm and were behind the goalless result.
Burnley have now gone seven games without tasting defeat. The Vincent Kompany-coached side have lost once in 12 games in all competitions.
Burnley website reports that Vincent Kompany made changes to the squad that beat West Brom last week.
Scott Twine got the nod into the starting line-up, whereas new recruit Ameen Al-Dakhil received his debit.
The changes in the starting line-up made little difference; hence Kompany turned his attention to Lyle Foster.

RETRACING LYLE FOSTER’S PATH TO STARDOM
Foster graduated from the Pirates youth set-up before earning a promotion to the senior squad.
The Bafana forward got his break in Europe when he signed for French Ligue 1 side AS Monaco in 2019.
He eventually joined Belgian side Cercle Brugge on loan from Monaco before sealing a move to Portuguese club Vitoria SC.
Westerlo ended up signing the nine-capped striker after he impressed while on loan from Vitoria.
Foster impressed Kompany after notching eight goals in 21 games this campaign.
Kompany has bolstered his attack with Foster to increase the team’s promotion chances. Burnley lead the Championship race with 62 points from 28 games.
The Clarets are favourites for promotion to the Premier League next season.
