BREAKING | Marumo Gallants announce interim technical team

Marumo Gallants have announced the technical team shake-up following the imminent sacking of their head coach Dan Malesela.

The club has confirmed the appointment of Dylan Kerr, who fills in “an advisory position as a consultant”, according to the statement.

Meanwhile, Raymond Mdaka will be the interim head coach, while Selaotse ‘Sly’ Mosala will also form part of the interim technical management that’s been tasked to save the club from relegation.

Mdaka is no stranger to leading Bahlabani Ba Ntwa on an interim basis as he has been a club’s caretaker coach more than once.

Meanwhile, Mosala was promoted from the DDC side to the first team as he has been managing the reserve team along with Matsemela Thoka as co-coaches.

CLUB INSISTS DAN MALESELA IS ON ‘SPECIAL LEAVE’

On the other hand, Gallants have insisted “Dan Malesela remains head coach” of the club despite rumours suggesting that he has been shown the exit door.

The statement added that Malesela and the Technical Director Harris Choeu embarked on a period of special leave.

The club’s chairman Abram Sello says the team was in need of “different tactics” following strings of poor results.

MARUMO GALLANTS CHAIRMAN ON TECHNICAL TEAM CHANGES

“I believe that Malesela and his team have done their best,” the club’s Chairman Abram Sello said.

“However, the results show that it’s time to reflect and come up with different tactics. Losing games takes its toll mentally, physically and emotionally.

“Therefore, this opportunity will allow the technical team to re-energize and come back with improved strategies.

“Unfortunately, we don’t have the luxury of pausing football games during this period, and therefore we have an interim technical team taking the reins for now.

“I trust my players and I know that they will continue to strive for wins and make myself and supporters proud.”

Gallants are next in action with Sekhukhune United in the DStv Premiership on Saturday, 04 February. The match will take place at Royal Bafokeng Stadium at 8:00 pm.
