Another Banyana star on the move in Europe
Another Banyana Banyana star is on the move in Europe and could be headed to a Spanish side.
FARPost has it on good authority that Banyana Banyana frontwoman Ode Fulutudilu is on the verge of returning to the Spanish top tier.
This comes after the 32-year-old footballer cut ties with the French side FC Fleury 91. She joined Fleury on a one-year deal after parting ways with Glasgow City in July 2022.
ODE FULUTUDILU COMPLETED MEDICALS, SET FOR BE ANNOUNCED
This publication can confirm that the player touched down in Spain on Sunday, 29 January and completed her medicals on Monday, 30 January 2023. She is expected to be announced in the next few days.
WHY ODE FULUTUDILU CUT TIES WITH FC FLEURY
According to FARPost sources, the speedy forward was offered a lucrative deal she could not resist.
This is after the Spanish club, interested in her services, convinced her to make the switch.
As a result, the Banyana star decided to terminate her contract with Fleury on mutual agreement.
This happens just a few months after joining the French club. “She got offered something hard to turn down,” said the source.
“Also an opportunity to play more and put herself in a better fighting position for the national team [Banyana Banyana].
“So, she had to consider all those things when thinking about leaving or staying.”
In 2019, Fulutudilu became the first South African to play in the Spanish women’s football top tier when she signed for Malaga.
She then left the Spanish side for Finnish outfit Aland United in 2020 before moving to the Scottish club Glasgow City in 2021, where she joined her fellow countrywoman Janine van Wyk.
In South Africa, Fulutudilu represented teams such as Lolvido Rapids, Cape Town Angels, and Spurs ladies, to mention a few.
