Injury layoff frustrates Chiefs forward Khama Billiat

Kaizer Chiefs forward Khama Billiat admits that it has been a frustrating time for him to be sidelined due to an injury.

Billiat last featured for Chiefs during the 1-0 win over rivals Orlando Pirates in a Soweto derby in October.

Speaking to FARPost, Billiat says not being able to play requires strong mental strength.

“Being injured of course is frustrating especially when it takes longer than what you expected,” he said.

“It is very frustrating because you can only contribute as much as we can only when we are fit. We always want to contribute positively to the team.

“But as much as you are injured on the sidelines you can only motivate the guys. Try to watch the games and make sure you give your input whenever we reflect on the games,” added Billiat.

This is Billiat’s fifth season at Amakhosi since his much publicised move from rivals Mamelodi Sundowns. The 32-year-old has been on the receiving end from the Chiefs faithful in recent times.

KHAMA BILLIAT MENTALLY STRONG DURING INJURY SETBACK

But the former Zimbabwean international says he remains committed to offer his teammates support from the outside.

“So yah it’s frustrating but we are professionals and it’s out of our control,” alluded Billiat

“It’s a mental thing. You need to be mentally strong because it’s not easy as you say. But you have to be mentally strong because you just want to play football. That’s what we know best and yah being out being out takes a ready big mental strength.”
