Makhehlene Makhaula’s first words after signing for Orlando Pirates

Makhehlene Makhaula expressed his excitement after putting pen to paper with Orlando Pirates on a one-and-a-half-year deal.

Earlier this publication reported on a possible pre-contract deal between Pirates and the veteran midfielder, Makhaula.

However, AmaZulu FC and Pirates agreed to complete the transfer of Makhaula in the January transfer-window.

Makhaula expressed his excitement to the Pirates media team about joining the club on a one-and-a-half-year deal.

After having a good season in the heart of AmaZulu’s midfield and being nominated for the midfielder of the season, a move to one of the big three teams [Pirates, Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs] in the DStv Premiership was always going to come knocking.

MAKHAULA’S FIRST WORDS AT PIRATES

“I am so happy to have signed for one of the biggest clubs in the country. It’s a dream come true for me,” said Makhaula.

“I am looking forward to meeting up with my new teammates and helping the club move towards reaching their objectives.”

“As I begin a new chapter in my career, I cannot do so without paying homage to my former club.”

“To the entire board, the technical team, my teammates and the supporters of Usuthu, thank you all for everything you have done for me,” Makhaula told Pirates.

In a statement released by Pirates, the club showed its appreciation for the AmaZulu’s ownership for doing business with them to bring Makhaula to Pirates.

“The club would like to thank AmaZulu management for the professional manner in how the transfer of Makhaula was handled.

“Usuthu, through the leadership and guidance of chairman Sandile Zungu, was transparent and cooperative throughout the negotiations.

“Making the process quick and smooth for both clubs.

“We would like to commend the board for their conduct and wish them all the best for the remainder of the season,” Pirates management wrote.
