How overseas based-players will benefit Banyana Banyana at the World Cup

Banyana Banyana will hope to benefit from the experience of their eight abroad players in the FIFA Women’s World Cup later this year.

The South African women’s national team will participate in the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in July/August, set to be hosted by Australia and New Zealand.

The African Champions are in group G, along with Sweden, Italy and Argentina.

Even though Banyana are the reigning African champions, they rank the lowest in their group at the global showpiece scheduled to take place from 20 July to 20 August 2023;

And with this, they will surely need all the experience they can gunner across the world, in order to overcome what awaits them in their group.

Currently, Banyana have eight players in different leagues across the world. And with the experience they bring to the team, the rest of the national team squad will look up to them to lead them amongst the best of the best in the World Cup later this year.

BANYANA’S CO-CAPTAINS LEAD WITH OVERSEAS EXPERIENCE

Going into the World Cup, the national team squad may be led with missive experience from their co-captains, Refiloe Jane and Janine Van Wyk.

Both captains are highly experienced with stints in European leagues. Last year, Jane left AC Milan to join another Italian side, Sassuolo.

And Van Wyk made her way back home from Scotland last year, to join the Hollywoodbets Super League side in JVW Ladies.

However, she made a recent move back to Europe to join the Greek side called Ergotelis.

These two will possibly be expected to lead the national team in the World Cup with their all rounded experience that they have gained all around the world.

THE REST OF THE NATIONAL TEAM SQAUD WITH OVERSEAS EXPERIENCE

The rest of the players who will be expected to lead the national team in the World Cup with the experience they have earned in different leagues abroad are:

Thembi Kgatlana, Jermaine Seoposenwe, Noxolo Cesane, Linda Matlhalo, Noko Matou, Leandra Smeda and Ode Fulutudilu.

All the players are currently enjoying their playing spells in Europe or South America.
