Sekhukhune accused of denying Nedbank Cup minnows stadium access
"We are going to teach them a lesson as professionals."
Nedbank Cup minnows Liver Brothers have accused Sekhukhune United of playing dirty tricks by denying them an opportunity to view the New Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane, Limpopo.
The two clubs meet in a Nedbank Cup last 32 clash at the Polokwane venue this evening, 8 February, with kick-off set for 7:30.
Liver Brothers have claimed that they made a request to the DStv Premiership club to allow them access to the venue.
Based in Bushbuckridge, the club wanted to familiarise themselves with the pitch and dressing room since they play their league games in a gravel ground and use trees as a change room. The club participates in the SAFA SAB league in Mpumalanga.
“I called Sekhukhune and asked if we can view the stadium because it’s the first time we play at the venue,” Managing director of the club Amukelani Gazide told the media.
“Atleast with Mbombela they allowed us to train there for a week. But Sekhukhune told us no, we can only come on the day of the match but we said it’s fine. We are not afraid of them because it’s 11v11 on the pitch.
WHY SEKHUKHUNE WILL BE TAUGHT A LESSON DURING NEDBANK CUP CLASH
Gazide has seemingly declared war, boldly stating that they will beat Sekhukhune.
“We are going to teach them a lesson as professionals because I think they were supposed to teach us and show us the way,” he said.
“Just like TS Galaxy, who gave us an opportunity who showed us the way they enter the field and put jerseys inside the dressing room. Because we don’t have dressing rooms, we play in the gravel and change under the trees.
“But we said to them it’s fine we will meet on the field, as long as it’s 11v11. We believe our boys are hungry for this thing, they [Sekhukhune] are in Dubai so they don’t need this thing.
GETTING THE RIGHT SANGOMA
Gazide added: “They [Sekhukhune] have one of our guys from home who is part of their team. I think he told them that these people from Bushbuckridge [are dangerous].
“But I believe if you get a Samgoma you must not get a Sangoma that will put something on the ground. You must get a Sangoma that can assist the boys. Because if you don’t get a chance to get into the ground you are not going to play.
“So I told them that we are ready even if they open at five minutes before the match it’s fine.”
