Zwane reveals why players struggle to adapt to life at Kaizer Chiefs

"I think it's a case of adaptation, players learn differently."

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Arthur Zwane has revealed why many of the club’s players struggle to adapt to life at the Soweto giants.

Zwane states that Chiefs are blowing hot and blow in the 2022/23 season as some of the players are still trying to find their feet and settle in.

Chiefs signed a lot of players heading into the current DStv Premiership season to bolster their squad and bring balance after offloading dozens.

They brought in the likes Zitha Kwinika, Edmilson Dove, Yusuf Maart, Siyethemba Sithebe, Ashley Du Preez and Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana and most recently, Christian Saile Bosomboli.

Many of the players have been putting inconsistent displays with Zwane forced to chop and change his squad; drop the underperformers at Chiefs.

WHY KAIZER CHIEFS PLAYERS STRUGGLE

Zwane believes his players struggle because Chiefs is a big club with extremely high expectations.

“When it comes to players [struggling], I think it’s a case of adaptation, players learn differently,” he said.

“Some they will find it difficult to settle in quickly because of the pressure that comes with being a Kaizer Chiefs player.

“It comes with the pressure of working for a team of Kaizer Chiefs calibre, where people [fans] expect results week in, week out.”

HOW COACHES INTENDS TO HELP STRUGGLING PLAYERS

Zwane further revealed how they as the technical team intend to help struggling players to adapt.

“It’s us as a technical team how we help them settle and understand the meaning of playing for a team of Kaizer Chiefs calibre,” added Zwane.

“We have to come in as coaches, those who have been there as players and those who are here now to help these players grow on and off the field.”

Chiefs players’ struggle to adapt has evidently affected the Soweto giants’ performance this season.

Zwane’s troops are fifth on the DStv Premiership standings, 27 points behind from runaway leaders Mamelodi Sundowns.

They are now fighing to settle for a scond place that will see them play in the CAF Champions League next season.
