PSL referee accused of disrespecting Nedbank Cup minnows 

Nedbank Cup last 32 finalists Liver Brothers have accused PSL referee Tshidiso Mkhwanazi of showing disrespect towards them. 

Liver Brothers were thrashed 6-0 by Sekhukhune United at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Wednesday.

The Mpumalanga club were the lowest ranked team in the last 32 round. They currently play in the provincial SAB regional league. 

PSL REFEREE ACCUSED OF DISRESPECT 

Speaking after the match, head coach of the club Tirhani Nyalungu lashed out at Mkhwanazi for what he said was disrespect.

“I felt hard done by the referee who kept telling us that this is not SAB League,” he said.

“What does SAB have anything to do with this competition? So they are supposed to walk all over us because this is not SAB?

“At the end of the day he comes and apologises. Okay we take the apology but on a personal note I am not satisfied,” added an angry Nyalungu.

“There was a foul. Then one of the coaches stood up (an argument started), then the referee said this is not SAB repeatedly. Speaking where are we supposed to play La Liga? No it’s wrong.

“Which team was supposed to be protected here? We were supposed to be protected but instead it was the opposite. Even the penalty that they scored I am not complaining but that was too soft.”

Nyalungu also acknowledged the presence of their supporters who came out in numbers all the way from Mpumalanga. The Liver Brothers fans outnumbered those of Sekhukhune United by a huge difference.

“Wow, it was out of this world. We are from Mpumalanga. We came here in Limpopo to beat them in terms of support. Although they beat us in terms of the shoreline sl there is actually something that came out of this game.

“I want to take this opportunity to thank the supporters for coming in numbers, singing, cheering the boys.

“That’s the extra motivation that the boys needed so we really appreciate and thank them despite the fact that it was not meant to be.”
