Bafana Bafana legend Benni McCarthy has been described as Manchester United’s best signing in the Premier League.

Leading United Kingdom-based sports website Sports Bible apportioned Manchester United’s 2-0 win over Leeds United on Sunday to the former AmaZulu coach, Benni McCarthy.

WHAT SPORTS BIBLE WROTE ABOUT BAFANA BAFANA LEGEND

“Benni McCarthy will go down as one of Man United’s best signings of the season, he’s worked miracles,” Sports Bible wrote in its headline.

The website was reflecting on Manchester United’s upturn in performance since Benni McCarthy’s appointment as strikers’ coach.

The website particularly singled out Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford’s improved scoring as an example of Benni McCarthy’s impact.

HOW RASHFORD AND GARNACHO’S GOALS WON IT FOR UNITED AGAINST LEEDS

Rashford and substitute Garnacho scored in the second half as United cemented their third place.

“Rashford scored his fourth headed goal of the season against Leeds on Sunday afternoon as United secured all three points at Elland Road,” Sports Bible wrote.

“And fans were quick to comment on the impact of McCarthy’s coaching sessions.”

The website quoted one United fan saying: “Benni McCarthy up there with Casemiro and Martinez as United’s best signings this year: the work he’s done with Rashford on finishing, and Garnacho as well.”

WHAT THE FANS SAY ABOUT MCCARTHY’S IMPACT AT UNITED

A second supporter wrote: “Benni McCarthy must have been teaching Marcus Rashford how to head a football.”

A third commented: “Naa we not just gonna ignore Benni McCarthy turning Marcus Rashford into an aerial firepower. He’s done miracles on him.”

United boss took many by surprise when he hired the former Cape Town City coach last season.

“There was still one place in our coaching staff that I wanted to fill,” Ten Hag told United’s website.

“Benni has experience as a manager. He was a coach in the professional level and he was a former striker, a really successful striker as well.

“He will focus on the positioning and attacking. I’m not saying only the strikers, but also the integration from the full-backs and midfielders. Our way of play has to be dynamic.”

The South African was a top striker at his peak and won the UEFA Champions League under Jose Mourinho at Porto in Portugal in 2004.

McCarthy eventually moved to England where he made a name at Blackburn Rovers, coming inches away from the Golden Boot.

He also played for Celta Vigo in Spain and Ajax Amsterdam in Holland.
