Bruce Bvuma embracing competition among the goalkeepers at Chiefs
Instead of worrying about his lack of game time, Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Bruce Bvuma reckons that it motivates him to work even harder.
The 27-year-old goalie hasn’t been a hugely influential presence between the sticks for the DStv Premiership giants.
As a result, his starting opportunities for the Soweto-based outfit are drying up.
In the current campaign, Bvuma has only played four games, all league clashes.
Out of those four matches, the shot-stopper conceded seven goals and managed to keep one clean sheet.
Bvuma has not been playing since the 2-all draw against TS Galaxy in October last year.
The Chiefs player was speaking during the Nedbank Cup last 16 draw.
HOW LACK OF GAME TIME MOTIVATES BRUCE BVUMA
“Well for me, as I’m not playing, I just have to keep on working hard and making sure that I’m ready,” Bvuma told the media.
“You never know what is going to happen next.
“The coach is also saying that we need to keep working hard, as the chance will come.”
The Leratong-born footballer continued: “Every player wants to play. The thing is that in the team we have over 30 players and you can’t play each and every game.
“So, whoever is picked on the day and doing well it will be hard to get changed.”
BRUCE BVUMA ON KAIZER CHIEFS GOALKEEPING ROTATION
Bvuma also touched on the issue of the Glamour Boys’ goalkeeping rotation policy.
“For me, at Chiefs, we have very good goalkeepers and the competition is very high,” he added.
“At the moment, Brandon Petersen is doing so well. So, as he is doing so well other keepers are supporting him.
“We are giving him all the support that we have and you can’t expect the coach to make changes because Brandon is in good form for the team.”
