Rulani Mokwena points out Coton Sport strengths

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena has pointed out three strengths their CAF Champions League opponents Coton Sport have.

The two sides meet on Friday, 17 February, for matchday two of Group B.

Mokwena and his troops will be aiming to continue with their great form and stretch their winning run to 16 matches in all competitions.

STYLE OF PLAY

According to Mokwena, Coton Sport doesn’t have one style of play.

“A strong side that is dominating their stream, it’s a team that has more strengths than weaknesses. A different profile of team when they are at home and a different profile of team that is very aggressive going forward with good counter-attacks and the physicality,” Mokwena told the media.

SET PIECES

Mokwena also stated that their opponents are dangerous when it comes to set plays.

“They have very good possibilities to hurt you in set pieces, very direct. Even sometimes [Che] Malone, for example, if you look at the build-up, has possibilities to get into the midfield and get to players like Brice [Arnaud Eboudjé], whose always available for the build-up,” he added.

AGGRESSIVE WINGERS

The Cameroon outfit uses their wingers most of the time when attacking, Mokwena has noted.

“Very aggressive with the wingers that come inside. They are not afraid to go to Patient Wassou upfront if he plays number seven then establish play from the second balls.”

VALUABLE INFORMATION

Mokwena further stated that it’s up to his players to perform and come out with the positive result because they’ve given them all the information they need to know about their opponents.

“The game of football belongs to the football players, football players also need some information to be able to perform.

“Our work is to just provide information to the players, then they will execute because the game belongs to the players and the quality of the players,” he added.

Kickoff at Roumde Adjia Stadium is at 6pm [SA time].
