Banyana Banyana humiliate Uzbekistan in Turkish Women’s Cup opener 

Banyana Banyana humiliated Uzbekistan 3-0 in the Turkish Women’s Cup opener at Emirhan Sport Complex on Saturday. 

Desiree Ellis‘ charges claimed all three points after crashing Uzbekistan to make a bold statement. 

The 2022 CAF Africa Cup of Nations Champions started the match on top, finding the back of the net three times in just 25 minutes minutes of the first half.

Banyana opened the scoring through Jermaine Seoposenwe in the 10th minute.

Just three minutes after the restart, South Africa added to the scoreline. It was an own goal from Uzbekistan player Shokhida. She had the last touch from Seoposenwe’s cross in the 13th minute.

As the first period wore on, things took a U-turn, with the opponents coming out guns blazing.

However, Uzbekistan were not lucky enough to pull one back.

In the 25th minute, scored the third goal, thanks to Noxolo Cesane’s goal. 

Banyana never slowed down from there on as they continued attacking in numbers with the hope to bury the game in the first half. 

The African Queens tried to took their advantage on the stroke of half-time to score the fourth but it was never meant to be. 

The Showpiece went into the interval with the Uzbekistan trailing behind by 3-0.

A mouthwatering second half, saw Banyana toiling with the visitors, as the side also was searching to score the fourth goal.

The opposition side had been totally floored when it comes to ball position as they were searching the ball with a torch.

The intensity and pace grew drastically from the Banyana and showed no sign of slowing down.

After an eventful match, it was a good performance from Banyana who claimed the first win at the tournament.

The African champions return to the pitch when they face Slovenia at the same venue on Tuesday [21 February 2023].
