‘He’s overconfident and loses the ball’: Vilakazi makes Ntsako Makhubela admission

Golden Arrows co-coach Vusimuzi Vilakazi has made an admission on attacking midfielder Ntsako Makhubela after their 3-2 win over Kaizer Chiefs in a DStv Premiership at Peter Mokaba Stadium.

Makhubela joined Arrows on loan from Orlando Pirates in January and, against Chiefs, played a part in the build-up to the third goal netted by the team’s all-time goalscorer, Knox Mutizwa.

Vilakazi has made an interesting admission on the skilful midfielder, saying he is overconfident and loses the ball.

VUSIMUZI VILAKAZI ON NTSAKO MAKHUBELA’S CONTRIBUTION

“I think this is the fourth game, if I’m not mistaken, being involved in helping the team to score. He has been doing well,” Vilakazi told members of the media.

“When he came back to the team, he only trained for one week with us because he understood the style of play and the club’s future.

“He is well aware of the requirements from him in terms of demands in his position.”

VUSIMUZI VILAKAZI TO CONTINUE MOTIVATE NTSAKO MAKHUBELA

Vilakazi insists that it is their responsibility as coaches to continue to motivate him [Ntsako Makhubela] “in terms of improvements.”

“He has contributed immensely to the team so far. We know sometimes he is overconfident and loses ball possession, but we always check the negatives and positives,” he added.

“If the positives are more than the negatives, then it’s fine. It is our responsibility as coaches to motivate him in terms of improvements.

“We are happy with his contribution to the team so far.”

Vilakazi hopes that Makhubela will continue with his fine form to help the team.

Abafana Bes’thende’s next assignment will be against SuperSport United on Sunday, 5 March 2023.
