Why Romain Folz remains untroubled despite AmaZulu’s poor run

AmaZulu FC head coach Romain Folz has explained why he’s not bothered by the recent poor run of his side.

In the previous six DStv Premiership games that Usuthu have played in 2023, they have only managed one win against Kaizer Chiefs. They lost two and drew the rest.

In fact, since the French-Morrocan man took over in October, AmaZulu have been a rollercoaster when it comes to the results.

Folz says he isn’t worried because they’ve been performing well, and it’s easy to discover the missing part of their game.

“If you look at the previous game, you can see how many chances we missed,” Folz told the media on Wednesday.

“It’s concerning in football when you don’t create anything, and you feel like you’re powerless or you don’t have an input in the game.

“When you miss chances like that, it’s a matter of you being harder on yourself and working more at training in those elements and also being ruthless going into games wanting to be aggressive in the opponents’ box and finish the chances.

“If there is an element that was [missing] in the last game is this one.

“We are easily capable to target and identify what went wrong in that game [against TS Galaxy]. It’s not ten things, it’s a couple of things, but they matter very much.

“So, we need to get that right. I cannot predict the future. I cannot tell you if it’s gonna happen now or in two weeks or anything.

“The only thing I can tell you is we are working to fix that as soon as possible. We can only hope that that clicks as soon as in the next game.”

AmaZulu are 11th on the log standings with 24 points after 20 games. They will welcome Royal AM in a mouthwatering KZN derby on Saturday, 25 February, at the Moses Mabhida at 8:00 pm.
