Ramovic on why Given Msimango deserves Bafana Bafana call-up

TS Galaxy head coach Sead Ramovic has called for Given Msimango to be offered a chance at Bafana Bafana.

The German coach was speaking after his side downed AmaZulu 2-0 in the DStv Premiership on Saturday.

Ramovic was asked why he chose the young Msimango to captain seasoned players like Bernard Parker, Vuyo Mere, and others.

The 43-year-old mentor said Msimango has what it takes both on and off the field to be a leader of the team.

“Given is a role model, how he trains and how he plays,” Ramovic told the media.

He expressly stated that he believes Msimango is among the best centre-backs in the country.

“To be honest, Given is one of the best central defenders in South Africa. I think he really, really deserves to get a [Bafana Bafana] call-up.

“I’m not a [Bafana Bafana] coach but I would wish that he also gets a chance to show himself at the national team.

“He’s a smart guy, a really hard-working guy. Now, he plays consistently and is very good.

“We haven’t [conceded] a lot of goals, so all our back four does a fantastic job. Sanoka also [has been] fantastic until now.

“So the guys have shown until now that they deserve to get a chance and that the national team can see them live in training,” he added.

The flying-high Msimango has started and finished all the matches he’s played this season. Meanwhile, he has not missed a single match in the 22 games that have been played by his side in all competitions.

He has found the back of the net on one occasion. He scored in their 2-0 victory over SuperSport United on 14 August 2022.
