‘You must have seen the difference’: Arthur Zwane singles out one Chiefs player

Kaizer Chiefs coach Arthur Zwane has singled out one player for praise after their fifth successive derby win over rivals Orlando Pirates.

Chiefs emerged 1-0 winners over the Buccaneers in the Soweto derby on Saturday, 25 February.

The win would have relieved the under-fire former Chiefs winger of pressure after an indifferent stint as head coach.

CHIEFS HAVE A PLAN

“As I’ve always said in the past, the club has a plan, and we know that when you start building something, at some point, it is gonna go through some rough patch,” Zwane told journalists in a post-match interview.

“It’s part of the game because you’re trying to lay a strong foundation, and that foundation will obviously help us bring in players that can easily fit into our way of playing style.

“Injuries did not help us. We had too many injuries. We’ve lost key players in very important games.

“What’s key for us is to focus and keep working on the plan. There’s nothing that will be successful without facing challenges.”

ARTHUR ZWANE SINGLES OUT GAME CHANGER

Edmilson Dove had a good game against Pirates

Chiefs missed the services of Edmilson Dove in the disappointing 3-2 defeat to Golden Arrows last week. However, Zwane believes the Mozambican was the difference against Pirates.

“You must have seen the difference in managing the distances in this game and last week’s game. Sometimes you can take it for granted, but one player [Dove] will make a difference.

“How many chances did Pirates create? How many times did they go behind us,” said Zwane as he credited the former Cape Town City star.

Dove’s cross into the box was directed into the net by Olisa Ndah, handing Chiefs maximum points. The Mambas defender was named man-of-the-match.

Despite the victory, Zwane said there was still a long way to go in rebuilding Amakhosi. He said they needed to find some chemistry and technical understanding while they looked to get things right.
