John Maduka gives Happy Jele update

Royal AM head coach John Maduka has given an update on the club’s new signing Happy Jele who’s yet to make his debut.

Jele joined Thwihli Thwahla in January after being unattached for six months.

He parted ways with his previous club Orlando Pirates before the start of the season last year after he wasn’t offered a new playing contract.

While the club offered him a job to serve in a different department, he elected to leave.

Having found a new home, Jele is yet to make a long-awaited return to football as he’s been serving a suspension of two matches carried over by PSL.

Jele got a red card on the last matchday of the 2021/22 season in a match against SuperSport United.

Maduka says the defender will be available for selection soon when he’s done serving his suspension.

“Happy is okay, he is very okay, he’s training well and he’s working hard,” Maduka told the media.

“I’m sure that you’re aware that he’s on suspension, he’s still serving.

“And we hope that immediately he does that, he will be available for selection.”

Speaking to the media at Chatsworth Stadium last week, Jele said he’s looking to assist the club win the major trophy in the top-flight.

He also stressed the importance of taking young players under his wing.

JELE ON HIS MOVE TO ROYAL AM

“They have a vision that they’re looking at,” he said.

“And when I look at them, I see myself as part of them. Obviously, they want to win the major trophy for the team.

“I’m [hoping] that my contribution will help the team.

“For me to come here, it’s just [about] helping a lot of guys who also believe in themselves and knowing very well that one day they can be the same as I am. It’s very possible.

“And to groom this team, the most important thing is to groom this team to be where it wants to be in the PSL and CAF.

“Last season, they played CAF and they wanna be part of that each and every season.”
