Gavin Hunt issues stern warning to Chiefs-bound Thatayaone Ditlhokwe

"I always say treat the game with respect, it will pay you back."

SuperSport United coach Gavin Hunt has issued a stern warning to Kaizer Chiefs-bound defender Thatayaone ‘TT’ Ditlhokwe.

The Botswana international is left with a few months in his SuperSport contract and has already signed a pre-contract with the Soweto giants.

Chiefs announced the deal at the beginning of the year that they have reached a four-year agreement with the Zebras captain.

After signing with Chiefs, Ditlhokwe has played four league matches against Swallows FC, Cape Town City, Royal AM and Maritzburg United and helped the team keep three clean sheets.

GAVIN HUNT’S WARNING TO DITLHOKWE

According to Hunt, the 24-year-old is showing commitment. “I can give many examples where teams get rid of players which cost them. I’ve had players where when I was here the last time we won the league were signed by other clubs,” Hunt told the media.

“We called them in and said, listen, you got to respect the game, respect your contract. But other than that, he’s been fantastic for us, and it’s a big loss for us going forward.

“Right now, he’s got nine games. I always say treat the game with respect, it will pay you back, and it has. He still gives his commitment. If he drops off, he won’t play.”

FACING KAIZER CHIEFS

Hunt further stated that he would play Ditlhokwe when they face Chiefs towards the end of the season in May.

“I will definitely play him. Players need to honour the game. Six months is a long time. It’s not like six weeks.

“Even if a player signs a deal somewhere else, I will still let the player train with us. It’s what the game is about,” he added.
