What Michael Loftman brings to Sundowns’ technical team

Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Rulani Mokwena has revealed what qualities new technical staff member Michael Loftman brings in to the club.

Loftman was announced by the club as their new set piece coach two weeks back becoming the fourth coach for Mamelodi Sundowns.

Mokwena has a great working relationship with Loftman. The duo worked together at Soweto giants Orlando Pirates from 2017/18 season to 2019/20.

At that time, Mokwena was an assistant coach to Serbian mentor Micho Sredojevic, whilst Loftman served as a performance analyst.

LOFTMAN’S QUALITIES

According to Mokwena, the new technical staff member is an expert in the field and is a very hard worker.

“Michael is someone that I have extremely good relations with. He have an incredible quality, he’s a very qualified coach, hard working, competence and technical expertise,” Mokwena told the media.

“It’s someone that knows the South African game quite well now, having been in the country for quite sometime now.”

CLUB BACKING MOKWENA

Mokwena further revealed that he had the backing of the board and management to bring Loftman to the coaching staff.

“The addition to the technical team; I had some opinion in regards to the composition of the technical team, fortunately the club was in support.

“It’s something that’s for the club, it will help the club to move into a very good direction. We looking forward to working with him [with other coaches Manqoba Mngqithi, Steve Komphela and Wendell Robinson] exciting times ahead,” he added.
