Galaxy rising star Aphelele Teto’s SA U23 future left hanging

After being demoted to the DStv Diski Challenge by TS Galaxy, Aphelele Teto faces an uncertain future with the SA national Under 23 team.

TS Galaxy coach Sead Ramovic demoted Teto to the unfashionable Diski Challenge as a corrective measure.

Ramovic is on the record lambasting Teto, whom he said “thinks he is Messi” after a few good performances for the team.

However, a sudden dip in form, both in training and during DStv Premiership matches, saw the 19-year-old falling from grace.

Teto had made 12 appearances in the league and he provided two assists, an indication of his massive potential.

Sadly, his demotion from the TS Galaxy senior team left his future with the national Under 23s clouded by uncertainity.

HOW SA U23 COACH WILL DEAL WITH APHELELE TETO’S ISSUES

SA U23 coach David Notoane told FARPost that they will wait for the club and player to iron out their issues.

This means Teto might be overlooked for the final round of the Under 23 Africa Cup of Nation qualifiers.

“I’m not really privy to the details there. But I’m sure TS Galaxy acted in the best interest of their code of discipline with regards to him.

“What happened in TS Galaxy is their business. Ours is to ensure that we increase our pool of players.

“Of course it’s a draw back for him but he is talented and he has been doing good for us.

“We need to have a wide pool especially that our player is injured at Chippa for example. He would have a given us an option.

“Its a pity but we will allow the club and the player to sort out their issues without interfering. The last time, I heard he was injured and fighting to have a place in the team again,” Notoane said.

Amaglug-glug are set to host Congo on 19 March before travelling for the reverse fixture set for 27 March.

A win and a draw will be enough to ensure a place at the tournament to be hosted in Morocco.
