Vincent Kompany’s claim that shows his faith in Lyle Foster
Vincent Kompany has made an interesting claim about Bafana Bafana forward Lyle Foster that shows his faith in him.
Foster joined Kompany’s Burnley FC during the January transfer window and is settling into life in the Championship.
LYLE FOSTER YET TO BREAK HIS DUCK
However, Foster is yet to break his duck in front of goal for the Turf Moor side since his switch from Belgian outfit Westerlo.
The former Manchester City captain is convinced the South Africa international is adapting well in the Championship after eight appearances for the club.
He has started him twice and brought him on as a sub six times. Foster started the 1-0 FA Cup win over Fleetwood Town and saw a big first-half chance go begging as he fired straight at Cod Army stopper Jay Lynch.
His Clarets boss Kompany is not concerned about that due to what he sees every day in training. He believes the work rate and attitude are there from the Soweto-born star and that the rest will come in time.
VINCENT KOMPANY NOT WORRIED
“You can tell there’s things not quite coming off. But that’s the last thing I worry about because I can see them [with Michael Obafemi – a January loan signing] in training.
“And they score for fun, and if you’ve got the tools, the worrying thing would be if they couldn’t do the running because that’s something I can’t just put that on top,” Kompany told LancsLive.
“The running is there, the attitude is phenomenal, and the rest, we’re patient. If they scored with every touch they had, they wouldn’t be with us.
“So we’ll try and enjoy the journey because there will be moments as well when they surprise us, and we’ve got to give them that time. That’s why we’ve got the senior players as well to take away that pressure.”
