AmaZulu to miss key player in Chippa clash
One of the crucial AmaZulu FC regulars won’t be available for selection when they square off with Chippa United in the DStv Premiership on Sunday, 05 March at 15:30.
The match will be played in the Chilli Boys’ backyard at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.
Usuthu will be without their suspended right-back Thembela Sikhakhane who has accumulated four yellow cards throughout the season.
The 30-year-old has been one of the vital members of the team this season and has played in 22 games and provided one assist across all competitions.
His absence might bestow an opportunity to the likes of Mbongeni Gumede and Thendo Mukumela.
Gumede, who has made 18 appearances in all competitions, can play both as a centre-back and right-back.
And Mukumela, who has struggled with injuries has only four appearances to his name in this campaign.
Meanwhile, Sikhakhane recently inked a new deal with Usuthu that will keep him at the club for two more seasons.
AMAZULU TO FACE WOUNDED CHIPPA UNITED
While Usuthu’s Romain Folz will be looking to register a third league victory since he arrived at AmaZulu, Chippa United will be seeking to redeem themselves following a defeat to Swallows in their last match.
It was a loss that contributed hugely to the sacking of Morgan Mammila as things were starting to take a downturn.
The two teams last met in September last year which was the first game of Mammila in charge of the Eastern Cape side.
Chippa United got the better of AmaZulu in a 2-1 scoreline in what was a comeback to the winning ways after they had lost to Mamelodi Sundowns.
The KZN outfit currently occupies the 11th position on the log standings with 25 points in the bag after 21 games played.
Chippa, on the other side, sit 12th after collecting 24 points in 21 games.
