Polokwane City back on top as Leopards’ poor run continues
Polokwane City retained their position at the summit of the Motsepe Foundation Championship after beating Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila on Sunday.
In another match, Black Leopards’ poor run continued as they lost against Pretoria Callies stretching their winless run to 15gamess.
CITY RETURN TO THE SUMMIT OF THE LOG
Polokwane City’s 2-0 victory over TTM saw them open a two-point lead at the top. City had dropped to second following Cape Town Spurs’ 1-1 draw against Hungry Lions on Saturday. The Polokwane side have accumulated 46 points from 22 matches.
Black Leopards’ winless run stretched to 15 matches as they suffered a 2-1 defeat against Pretoria Callies. Therefore, they have registered eight draws and suffered seven losses. On the other hand, the victory saw the Tshwane outfit move from 12th to ninth.
Fellow title contenders Casric Stars also dropped points after they were held 0-0 by Magesi FC. They remained third with 43 points.
NB La Masia denied Baroka a victory at home as the visitors scored deep in the stoppage time to salvage a point. The stalemate left Bakgakga sitting 10th on the log after accumulating 26 points. They are two points ahead of La Masia, who are 13th.
KZN outfit Uthongathi FC made it two wins in two, defeating JDR Stars 3-1. The loss meant Stars are now winless in four matches. They have registered two draws and suffered two defeats.
10-man All Stars FC also dropped two valuable points at home following a draw against Platinum City. The draw left the teams laying sixth and 11th, respectively, on the log table.
University of Pretoria and Venda Football Academy played out to a 1-1 draw as the two teams couldn’t be separated after 90 minutes. They remained eighth and 14th, respectively, with 30 and 26 points respectively.
