Richards Bay coach indicates where Chiefs let them off the hook
Richards Bay FC co-head coach Pitso Dladla has pointed out how Kaizer Chiefs failed to utilise their numerical advantage against his side.
Amakhosi defeated the Natal Rich Boyz 1-0 in a DStv Premiership match on Saturday at the King Zwelithini Stadium.
The league’s rookies suffered a red card in the 19th minute, losing their Salim Magoola who had handled the ball outside the box.
They then sacrificed their midfielder Langelihle Mhlongo, replacing Magoola with Neil Boshoff.
Many believe that there was not much significance that Amakhosi had more numbers that the hosts on the field. And they didn’t exploit that advantage.
Dladla says Arthur Zwane’s charges could have hurt them more if they went patient on their build-up.

“I believe if Kaizer Chiefs were patient with their build-ups and played passes to make the field bigger, we would have suffered in terms of numerical advantage,” Dladla said in the press conference.
“That’s because we were one man short.”
Chiefs gaffer, Zwane himself admitted that after Richards were reduced to 10 men, his side lowered gears.
“After they got a red card, we took the foot off the pedal a little bit and didn’t put them under pressure anymore,” said Zwane.
“Of which I believe had we done that consistently, we had a good chance of scoring more goals.
“And we went to half-time leading by 1-0. Second half again, we were playing in patches.
“We had some promising movements in the final third entry. We could have capitalized again in the second half and we did not take our chances.”
However, at the end of the day, the Soweto giants secured maximum points on the road. They currently sit 4th on the log standings, level on points (38) with the third-placed Orlando Pirates who’re superior with goal difference.
