Retired striker explains why Chiefs are likely to dominate next season

"Success is predictable next season."

Former Kaizer Chiefs striker Kelvin Mushangazhike says coach Arthur Zwane’s success for next season is ‘predictable’.

At the moment bells are ringing at the Naturena for club to replace coach Arthur Zwane and his technical team.

Zwane has been subject to scathing criticism from the club’s insatiable supporters for failing to maintain a sustained DStv Premiership title challenge.

So much has been expected from the Soweto giants over the last few seasons but they have dismally failed to live up their biling.

They started off the current season in high tempo but then fizzled towards the mid-season.

As a result, the marauding Tshwane giants, Mamelodi Sundowns were left to dominate with rather minimal challenge.

And Chiefs assistant coach Dillon Sheppard recently revealed that a second place finish is enough consolation for their blemishes.

However Mushangazhike reckons it is mediocre for them to be content with settling for second position.

The former Zimbabwe International, Mushangazhike says it’s predictable that Amakhosi will dominate next season.

Mushangazhike believes the club’s faith in academy graduates will start producing results next season.

So far the likes of Mduduzi Matutu, Samkelo Zwane and Wandile Duba have proved their mettle in the senior team.

“This season is already out of hand. I believe this has been a good exercise of adaptation for the youngsters in the team,” Mushangazhike told FARPost.

“I think they will be stronger next season only if the coach sticks with them. Success is predictable next season.

“But settling for a second place finish can never be enough consolation for a team of Kaizer Chiefs’ magnitude.

“We all know how big those clubs are. So if you miss the target, rather invest energy in the following season or better still win the cup competitions,

The Soweto giants are yet to account for any league silverware since 2015 when they won the league title.

They failed to win the coveted MTN8 and they are only left the Nedbank Cup to fight for.

In this one, they will host Motsepe Foundation Championship side Casric Stars in the round of 16 game on Sunday at the FNB stadium.
