How every Orlando Pirates player on loan is performing this season
Soweto giants Orlando Pirates made major changes to their squad ahead of the 2022/23 DStv Premiership season.
They signed many players, at the same time loaned out many to have a balanced squad.
In the January window, four other players were loaned out. On the list was Zakhele Lepasa, whose move came as a shock.
FARPost writer Otis Ntshangase looks at how every Orlando Pirates player on loan is performing this season.
KWAME PEPRAH [MARITZBURG UNITED]
The Ghana international joined the Team of Choice during the January transfer window.
Since re-uniting with coach Fadlu Davids, Peprah has played five matches and scored one goal against AmaZulu on his debut.
TSHEGOFATSO MABASA [SEKHUKHUNE UNITED]
Mabasa linked with Babina Noko at the beginning of the season. The striker has made 14 appearances and scored two goals.
The 26-year-old has, however, struggled for game time under Brandon Truter; his last match was against Stellenbosch FC back in January.
ZAKHELE LEPASA [SUPERSPORT UNITED]
Lepasa forced a move away from the Bucs during the January window to get more game time elsewhere.
The 26-year-old has played four matches for Matsatsantsa and found the back of the net twice, scoring a brace against Golden Arrows.
NKANYISO ZUNGU [RICHARDS BAY FC]
The attacking midfielder is yet to make an impression and make his presence felt at the KZN side. Zungu joined the Rich Natal Boyz ahead of the current season.
He has made 12 appearances and only scored one goal in the Nedbank Cup against Sundowns.
NTSAKO MAKHUBELA [GOLDEN ARROWS]
The 29-year old joined Abafana Bes’thende in January for the remainder of the season. Makhubela is still trying to find his form at Arrows.
He has played eight games and scored one goal against Kaizer Chiefs which was one of his best performances.
BOITUMELO RADIOPANE [CAPE TOWN SPURS]
The 21-year-old has impressed on his loan spell with Spurs in the Motsepe Foundation Championship. The striker has score five goals in 13 appearances so far this season.
BONGANI SAM [MARITZBURG UNITED AND SWALLOWS FC]
The left back was first loaned out to Maritzburg at the beginning of the season then moved to rivals Swallows FC. For the KZN side, he played nine matches and scored once.
At Swallows, he has struggled for game time only making two appearances out of a possible five.
AZOLA MATROSE [CHIPPA UNITED]
Pirates signed the 19-year-old from Chippa, then loaned him there at the beginning of the season.
The attacking midfielder has been a regular for the Gqeberha side after making 19 appearances and found the back of the net twice.
THABISO SESANE [ALL STARS FC]
The centre back has been impressive for All Stars FC in the Motsepe Foundation Championship. The 22-year-old has played 20 matches.
His one of the best performances this season was in the Nedbank Cup against his parent club Pirates, however Stars lost 2-0.
