Lucas Radebe blesses Leeds United with his presence

Bafana Bafana legend, Lucas Radebe, blessed his former side, Leeds United, with his presence on Saturday, 11 March.

Radebe visited Leeds’ home ground, Elland Road, on Saturday while on a trip in England.

The former Leeds captain was seen on the ground just before Leeds’ home game against Brighton & Hove Albion.

The home crowd was delighted to see their legend, whom they still celebrate today. During his time at Leeds, Radebe won the hearts of many Leeds supporters with his leadership skills and marshalling their defence.

Since he left the club, he has been one of the most celebrated players at Leeds, with places, podcasts and newborn babies named after him.

Walking out at Elland Road awoke the feeling of nostalgia to Radebe as he reminisced back to his playing days and all the memories that he created with the club.

According to Leeds Live, Radebe revealed to Leeds social media that he will forever cherish all the memories he created with the club.

RADEBE’S WORD ON HIS RETURN TO ELLAND ROAD

“Just being in the dressing room. Absorbing that atmosphere and walking out onto the field.

“The raptures of the fans, you realise the passion and the love coming [from the fans], it filters onto the field of play.

“I always have goosebumps every game coming to the club and running out on that field.

“For me, it’s something that will live with me forever, running onto that field, smelling the grass, absorbing the atmosphere and then winning and [seeing] the smiles on the faces of everyone,” said Radebe to Leeds’ social media.

RADEBE’S TIME AT LEEDS

The former Bafana International joined the English side in 1994 from Kaizer Chiefs. Radebe spent 11 years at the club and made 262 appearances for the Premier League side.

Radebe also captained the side and helped Leeds reach the UEFA Champions League reach semi-finals.

His time at Leeds will forever be ingrained in the hearts of the Leeds supporters.
