Truter makes bold prediction for Motsepe Foundation promotion

Sekhukhune United coach Brandon Truter has made a bold prediction on who he reckons will gain promotion from the Motsepe Foundation Championship to the DStv Premiership

The race is starting to heat up in the first division with Polokwane City, Cape Town Spurs, and Casric Stars all standing a chance to secure automatic promotion.

Truter is a former Championship of the Motsepe Foundation Championship League. He guided Swallows to promotion in 2020. With the first division fixtures set to resume on Tuesday, the Capetonian-born coach has picked his hometown team as his preferred candidate to gain promotion at the end of the season.

BRANDON TRUTER’S CHOICE FOR MOTSEPE FOUNDATION CHAMPIONSHIP RACE

“Spurs is a very good team. It’s my hometown team so I will back them for promotion,” Truter told Journalists.

“Shaun Bartlett and Nasief Morris are two big internationals, we saw what they did for the countries in the past. Very good coaches as well.

“I am backing them for promotion and I hope that a Cape Town team goes to the DStv Premiership with outright promotion not via the playoffs so I am backing them and Cape Town needs it,” he said.

SHAUN BARTLETT DEMANDS SELF BELIEF

Meanwhile, Spurs coach Shaun Bartlett says he appreciates the kind words from Truter, but their players need to start believing it’s possible as well.

“It’s nice obviously to get assurances from other coaches including even myself. But players also need to believe that and that’s what we are trying to focus on every day,” he said.

“We can have trust and faith in them but if they don’t have self belief then we are not going to achieve that. So we keep working on that mental aspect and get the players to believe that this thing is possible as long as we focus on things that make us look good and make us win games.”
