Arthur Zwane points out ‘only’ difference between Chiefs and Sundowns
Kaizer Chiefs head coach Arthur Zwane has revealed a surprising statistic indicating a slight difference between his side and Mamelodi Sundowns.
The Tshwane giants have been cruising like nobody’s business in all competitions and are close to clinching their sixth consecutive DStv Premiership title.
Meanwhile, the Glamour Boys have failed to cut the mustard under Zwane’s leadership so far.
With many saying the Brazilians are unparalleled, Zwane believes that the only difference between his side and the reigning champions is that Sundowns have utilised their goal-scoring chances well than them.
ARTHUR ZWANE ON WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CHIEFS AND SUNDOWNS
“We’re the second-best team in terms of creating goal-scoring opportunities,” he told the journalists.
“Sundowns obviously and then it’s us, but then the only difference is that Sundowns have converted 80 percent of those chances they have created.
“And we have only converted 20 to 30 percent and that alone tells you that that the department we haven’t been ruthless and they have been ruthless. So that’s the difference.
“And also, on the other hand, we have conceded goals we shouldn’t have, manna from heaven.
“I keep on saying to the players, we need to learn and learn fast because, at this level, there is no room for such mistakes.”
‘10111’ says he feels for his charges because he has donned the Gold and Black shirt before and is aware of the pressure that comes with it.
In spite of poor and inconsistent performances, he still believes that they have done fairly well while going through injury issues and other challenges.
‘BOYS HAVE BEEN TREMENDOUS’
“And being a person also who played the game, I understand, I sympathise with the players,” he continued.
“A lot of pressure that comes with being a Kaizer Chiefs player, supporters expect us to perform to our utmost best week in and week out.
“And yeah, I would say the boys have been tremendous, from where we’ve come from and the challenges we have gone through. Not having a consistent line-up and also having the positives in the team.”
