Grant Margeman attracts interest from Soweto side

On-loan Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Grant Margeman has attracted interest from a Soweto side.

Margeman joined SuperSport on a two-season loan from Sundowns at the start of the 2022/23 DStv Premiership season.

The former Ajax Cape Town captain has been playing a starring role in SuperSport colours under the guidance of Gavin Hunt.

Margeman has produced a handful of Man-of-the-Match performances since joining Matsatsantsa, which saw him being named in Hugo Broos’ Bafana Bafana preliminary squad.

Bafana will face Liberia in the back-to-back AFCON qualifiers on the 24th and 28th of March, 2023.

This publication has gathered that Margeman has attracted interest from the Soweto club, who are already planning for next season.

SWALLOWS FC KEEN ON MARGEMAN

“Grant Margeman has been doing very well for SuperSport United,” a source told FARPost.

“Swallows FC have enquired about the services of Margeman with interest in bringing him for next season.

“But with Swallows fighting relegation, bringing a player of Margeman’s calibre might be tricky.

“Reality is when Margeman moved from Swallows to SuperSport, the aim was always to play for a competitive team to increase his chances of returning to Bafana Bafana,” added the source.

With Margeman still contracted to Sundowns, it remains to be seen if he can listen to offers elsewhere.

In the current campaign, Margeman has made 19 appearances and scored two goals while contributing two assists.

Meanwhile, SuperSport have won 11 games, drawing six while losing on five occasions. They are positioned second on the league table with 39 points after 22 games.
