Marcus Rashford opens up on his relationship with Benni McCarthy

In-form Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford has opened up on his relationship with Bafana Bafana legend Benni McCarthy.

McCarthy joined Erik ten Hag’s technical team at the beginning of the season as the striker’s coach.

Together, they are transforming the dormant English football giants following seasons of mediocrity.

The resurgence of United also saw one of the homegrown talents, Rashford, return to scintillating form.

The 25-year-old experienced a dip in his form last season after returning from a shoulder injury. In the 21/2022 season, Rashford only scored five goals in all competitions [35 games].

However, this season, with United having McCarthy as their new striker’s coach, the world has witnessed a rejuvenated Rashford.

RASHFORD ON MCCARTHY IMPACT ON HIS GAME

“Benni has been great with me and with all the forward lads. And you have to remember that Benni is part of a full coaching system.

“So everyone plays a lot of roles. And for the forward lads, Benni is the extra bit on top that we need.

“His relationship with me is very good. We speak a lot, and we are always analysing the games as well, and showing me ways to improve.

“And small things that can help me get more chances, more goals, and maybe create space for all the players as well. So, we are doing a lot of work,” Rashford told SuperSport.
