What would buy Arthur Zwane time at Kaizer Chiefs

Former Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach Farouk Khan has outlined what Arthur Zwane need to do to buy himself some time at the club.

Zwane has been under immense pressure at Chiefs due to the inconsistent run of form in the 2022/23 DStv Premiership.

The Soweto-born coach was heavily criticized after his side suffered a shocking 3-2 loss to Golden Arrows at Peter Mokaba Stadium.

However, he has managed to turn things around, winning three games on the trot, the latest coming in the Nedbank Cup against second-tier league side Casric Stars.

Despite the upturn in form, a section of the club’s supporters are still calling for the Chiefs hierarchy to pull the trigger on Zwane.

“But other than that, the fans are going to be on his back,” added the director of coaching at Stars of Africa Football Academy.

Amakhosi are in the quarterfinal stage of the Nedbank Cup, where they will face KwaZulu-Natal side Royal AM.

But they will first turn their attention to the league as they have a date with Maritzburg United on Saturday, 18 March at Harry Gwala Stadium.

A win will see Chiefs jump to third place and a point within the CAF Champions League spot; second place with eight games remaining in the season.

Zwane has previously admitted that the league is out of reach as they are 25 points behind leaders Mamelodi Sundowns. Therefore they will fight for the Nedbanak Cup and to secure second place in the DStv Premiership.
