What stresses Fadlu Davids about Karim Kimvuidi

Maritzburg United head coach Fadlu Davids has disclosed an issue that stresses him regarding the in-form Karim Kimvuidi.

Kimvuidi has quickly made himself a name in the DStv Premiership and has become a key player for the Team of Choice.

He signed for the Pietermaritzburg-based side at the beginning of the season from the DR Congo outfit DC Motema Pembe.

Davids was asked why the 21-year-old has struggled to finish 90 minutes in most games he has played. He insisted that Kimvuidi was fit and capable of going beyond 90 minutes.

However, he revealed that communication had been a problem since the attacking midfielder doesn’t understand English properly.

“He’s able to play 90 minutes; he had a back problem today [against Kaizer Chiefs on Saturday],” Davids told the media.

“That’s why he had to come off. He has completed 90 minutes before, high intensity. That’s the way we want to play.

“So I don’t think it’s the fitness problem. He’s 21 years, the pace of the PSL coming from Congo, his previous club, training every six months. It’s step-by-step.

“English is not his number one [language]. He has a translator. But tactically, they’re beginning to understand the defensive part.

“But again, always a creator, always in between the lines, always something with his flair, with natural ability.

“You have to put him in the correct position so that he can display his skills. I don’t think it’s a problem with him being able to have the same output for 90 minutes.

“We now have two weeks preparing for the FIFA break. We have some days off now in the first step, and then we come back and prepare.”

Despite being in fine form in the blue colours, Kimvuidi is yet to find the back of the net since touching down in South Africa.

However, he has provided four assists in 23 games in all competitions.
