Kaizer Chiefs complete third signing
Kaizer Chiefs are showing intentions of strengthening their squad, having completed the third signing for the 2023/24 season.
In January, Chiefs announced they had signed Botswana captain Thatayaone Ditlhokwe from SuperSport United.
Ditlhokwe, a left-footed centre-back, is set to move to Naturena at the end of the season.
BOLSTERING THE SQUAD
This past week, SABC Sport reported that they had signed Mduduzi Mdantsane from Cape Town City.
Mdantsane recently made his 100th appearance for the Citizens and now looks set to switch to Gauteng at the end of the current season.
Having leaked 26 goals in 23 matches, the Soweto giants are seemingly eager to bolster their defence.
They have since completed the capture of TS Galaxy captain Given Msimango, as first reported by SABC Sport.
According to FARPost sources, the 25-year-old defender was at Naturena earlier on Saturday to put pen to paper.
He is believed to have signed a four-year deal to keep him at the club until 2028.
Chiefs have been chasing his signature for a while now, but TS Galaxy exercised their option to keep him at the club until June 2024.
The Rockets captain has previously admitted that he was on Chiefs’ radar.
TS GALAXY MONEY MATTERS
“The professional side of me just said find out from the right people, the chairman, my agent, to find out how true was it and there was truth to it, but no further steps were taken,” he told TS Galaxy’s Podcast.
The Rockets knew that trying to hold onto him would have meant he signs a pre-contract in January and eventually left for free at the end of next season.
Galaxy have struggled financially in recent months, failing to pay salaries for January and February in time.
“It was always going to be difficult to keep him. The young man recently bought a house, and the uncertainties at TS Galaxy didn’t make matters any better,” the source said.
The former South African youth international made his topflight debut with the now-defunct Highlands Park in the 2017/18 campaign.
The Brakpan-born centre-back established himself as one of the best defenders in the league, which saw him make 17 appearances in the 2021/22 DStv Premiership season and score one goal.
