ANDILE DLAMINI REACTS TO HER BIG MOMENT
Speaking to FARPost on Sunday, 26 March, Dlamini said the award is dedicated to all women in sports who work extremely hard.
“I feel honoured and grateful that we won. When I say we won I mean Women in sports, the young girls and boys that look up to me. My teammates at Banyana Banyana and Mamelodi Sundowns,” she said.
“So, for me, it’s an honour to be recognized by the Minister. It’s also an honour to be seen by your whole country making the nation proud.
“Yes, I was emotional because it’s a special one. You don’t go thinking that you have won it, there are people that are nominated with you and they are doing great things in their sporting codes. But you are obviously going there grateful that you are nominated.
“When it’s your time it’s your time. I think this year has shown that women’s sport is taking over. But also we need to congratulate the women proteas for getting into the [T20 World Cup] finals and representing every woman with pride,” added Dlamini.
WHAT THE SA SPORT AWARDS ACCOMMODATE MEAN FOR WOMEN
“This award is dedicated to all the women who have been working hard to stay at the top and I think it will also alert people that women are powerful. It doesn’t matter where they come from, they work extremely hard to get what they want.”
Bafana Bafana midfielder Themba Zwane also walked away with the People’s choice award.
