Zwane reveals what Bafana need to do to win in Liberia

Mamelodi Sundowns winger Themba Zwane has revealed what Bafana Bafana need to do to win in Liberia.

This comes after South Africa played out to a disappointing 2-2 draw in the first leg of the CAF AFCON qualifiers with the West African side on Friday night at Orlando Stadium.

Hugo Broos‘ troops threw away a 2-goal lead as Ansu Keita’s Liberia bounced back into the game to hold the hosts to a draw.

The Bafana coach Broos did not pitch for the post-match television interviews. Instead, he sent his assistant coach Helman Mkhalele, who journalists refused to talk to during the press conference.

Eventually, Broos came to address the media but refused to answer the questions from journalists.

But a day later, the Belgian mentor issued an apology for his own actions on the day.

Now, Broos’ charges will shift their focus to the second leg encounter scheduled to take place on Tuesday, 28 March 2023.

Bafana jetted off to Monrovia for the second leg clash on Sunday at 11:30 am. They were supposed to leave the country at 9:00am but got delayed due to flight permits.

Speaking ahead of the eagerly-awaited game, Zwane said that they know very well what is at stake. He insisted that they cannot afford to disappoint the country once more again.

The 33-year-old footballer told SAFA’s media department that it was disappointing to draw against Liberia. But they are hoping to achieve positive results on Tuesday.

He reckons that Bafana are comprised of quality players, and that will help them to get the job done in Monrovia.

WHAT BAFANA BAFANA SHOULD DO TO WIN AGAINST Liberia

Zwane has reiterated that this time around they need to convert their clear-cut chances. And also bury the game while time is still on their side to do so.

“I think as a team we are positive. And we are going for a win,” said the man who is affectionately known as ‘Mshishi’ within the football circles.

“We know that we can push ourselves and play our good football. And also try to take out chances.

“As a collective, we are definitely ready for the game.”

WHAT IT MEANS TO WIN THE PEOPLE’S CHOICE AWARD

The talented right-wing also reacted to winning the People’s Choice Award last night at the 16th annual SA Sports Awards.

“It means a lot to me and it shows that people care and show me, love. And I really appreciate their love,” he explained.

“I will continue doing my good job and try to entertain them as always.”
