PSL team to play three remaining fixtures in unfamiliar stadium
A PSL team is set to play three remaining DStv Premiership fixtures of the 2022/23 campaign in an unfamiliar stadium.
Lucas Moripe Stadium has failed to meet the standards of the PSL. According to reports, plumbing issues are the main concern at the multi-purpose facility located in Atteridgeville.
The development has forced a Pretoria outfit to find an alternate venue to wind up the season with just three home matches left.
PSL TEAM TO PLAY ON UNFAMILIAR TURF
SuperSport United will play on unfamiliar turf for their home fixture until the end of the season. Matsatsantsa are not the only team affected by the closedown of Lucas Moripe Stadium.
Motsepe Foundation Championship side Pretoria Callies is also in the picture, as they are using the very same stadium.
SUPERSPORT UNITED FINDS NEW HOME
Matsatsantsa have now moved all their home games from Lucas Moripe Stadium to the Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) Stadium.
Gavin Hunt’s side will play their first home game at TUT Stadium on Friday, the 7th of April 2023, against TS Galaxy.
The kick-off for that game is still at 19:30.
Matsatsantsa have been in incredible form under the tutelage of Hunt this term. Hunt returned to the club at the beginning of the season, as he penned a two-year deal with the club.
In his previous stint with the Tshwane giants, Hunt guided SuperSport to a historic three consecutive league titles. And also a Nedbank Cup triumph.
As things stand, Matsatsantsa sit second in the DStv Premiership log standings with 39 points after 23 games.
The side will be hoping to hold on to their position in order to qualify for the CAF Champions League.
