Kamohelo Mokotjo makes Bafana Bafana admission

Having last played for Bafana Bafana three years ago, Kamohelo Mokotjo has made an admission as he looks to rekindle his spark at Sekhukhune United.

Mokotjo made a surprise move to the PSL side after having been in the wilderness for an entire year due to injury. Babina Noko captured the former Brentford player on a one-and-a-half-year deal. He had been without a club since November 2021, when he left MLS side FC Cincinnati.

Mokotjo has had a slow start struggling to break into Brandon Truter’s starting 11 due to a lack of match fitness.

He played his first full 90 minutes for the club during the 1-1 draw against Chippa United before the FIFA International break. The former FC Twente player last featured for the national team during a friendly international against Mali in 2019.

BAFANA BAFANA ADMISSION

Speaking to the club’s media department, Mokotjo made it clear he would never say no if a call-up came his way.

“I mean, if the opportunity arises, you don’t say no to your country,” he said.

“But as an individual, I have no circles for Bafana at the moment, but I still have passion for the game.

“I have a hunger for the game, I know that no matter how good, how young, how old you are, you can still grow,” he said.

WHY KAMOHELO MOKOTJO IS NOT RULING HIMSELF OUT

“You can still be at a certain level. So I won’t rule myself out when it comes to anything. So we will see what happens, but my focus is here at the moment, and I am here for a reason. Only God knows when it comes to future achievements.”

Mokotjo has had a long history with national teams from the U12, U20, and U23 to the senior national team. He captained the U12 national team to a 2003 Danone Nations Cup victory in France and was named as the Player of the Tournament.
