Ex-PSL star on the move in Botswana
An ex-PSL star is set for a new challenge in the ever-growing Botswana Premier League, FARPost has learnt.
With action fast reaching its boiling point, ambitious clubs are already making raft changes in a bid to change their fortunes.
And Extension Gunners have acquired the services of former Bloemfontein Celtic ace Joel Mogorosi.
According to Botswana’s Killer Pass, the former DStv Premiership striker has been appointed as the club’s assistant coach
His appointment comes after the club decided to mutually part ways with head coach Thabo Motang.
Motang’s departure has also triggered the immediate exit of former Orlando Pirates winger Phenyo Mongala who was the assistant.
WHY EXTENSION GUNNERS HIRED JOEL MOGOROSI
Daniel ‘Chicco’ Nare has been hired to lead the team until the end of the current season, though with the daunting task of helping them remain afloat.
And Killer Pass revealed that the former Botswana national team skipper Joel Mogorosi will assume the assistant coach post.
At the moment, Extension Gunners anchor the Botswana Premier League standings with 11 points on their tally.
So far, 20 matches have been played. In their last five matches, they lost four and drew on one occasion.
And the 38-year-old who hung his boots in May 2022 will be expected to help the team regain their mojo.
Mogorosi stands out as the most decorated former Botswana elite league player having won nine titles.
He won six league titles with Township Rollers, two with Mochudi Centre Chiefs and one with Gaborone United.
Since hanging his playing boots, this is Joel Mogorosi’s first managerial post in the topflight.
In the DStv Premiership, Mogorosi stands out as one of the best Botswana imports.
He joined Celtic in 2012 and his impact was felt when he helped them win the Telkom Knock out.
He scored three crucial goals in the process, against Orlando Pirates, Free State Stars and Mamelodi Sundowns in the final.
Juluka as he was fondly known also finished that season on a high note after being crowned the Telkom Knock-Out Player of the tournament.
He left after three years with the now defunct South African club.
