Grant Kekana: ‘There’s still a lot to play for’
Mamelodi Sundowns defender Grant Kekana reckons that “there is still a lot to pay for”, despite having won their sixth consecutive PSL title.
Masandawana will welcome Cape Town City on Tuesday, 4 April 2023, at Loftus Versfeld Stadium.
The kick-off is set for 19:30. The ex-SuperSport United man reckons that they will approach the match in a professional manner and, most importantly, they will make sure that they win the game.
Kekana says there are records they still want to break, and that is what will keep them motivated heading into the showdown.
‘WE PLAY EACH AND EVERY GAME TO WIN’
“Obviously, here at Mamelodi Sundowns, we play each and every game to win. So, it will be the same going into the Cape Town City game,” Kekana told Sundowns’ media department.
“We don’t want to get complacent. There is still a lot to play for, as much as we have won the league.
“There are still records that we are willing to break and the standards we have set for ourselves from the beginning of the season. And to see if we can achieve them. That is what will be motivating us to go on and keep winning games.”
He went on to state that facing Eric Tinkler’s side won’t be a walk in the park. Kekana is certain that the Citizens will come out guns blazing as they would want to achieve what they had achieved last campaign.
“Cape Town City is a good team, and they are going to come out guns blazing. I think they would want to reach their last sessions’ target to finish second,” he added.
“So, it is going to be another tough encounter, but another encounter we will prepare for and give another go.”
As things stand, the red-hot Brazilians are cruising nicely at the summit of the DStv Premiership table with 59 points after 23 games.
