How Teboho Mokoena has proved Rulani’s best midfielder claim
Two months ago, Mamelodi Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena described Teboho Mokoena as the best midfielder in Africa.
In his remarks, coach Rulani Mokwena said: “I think, in my opinion, this season in the country, there’s very few that are at his [Teboho Mokoena] level.
“Even on the continent, I think there are very few,” Mokwena told journalists at Chloorkop
And Rulani Mokwena has been proven right by describing Teboho Mokoena as the best midfielder in Africa.
WHY TEBOHO IS THE BEST MIDFIELDER IN AFRICA
Having been a vital cog in Mamelodi Sundowns’ title defense the Bafana Bafana midfielder Teboho Mokoena, is second to none in local and continental competitions.
In his second season with Sundowns, Mokoena is riding high and is sure to be one of the contenders for the players of the season award.
He has shone in the holding midfield role this season, and he has attributed it to having a good pre-season at Chloorkop.
In the CAF Champions league Mokoena is among the best performing players.
TEBOHO MOKOENA, A PASS MASTER
Without a shred of doubt, Mokoena is the dominamt pass master on the continent.
Furthermore, the 26-year-old made 371 accurate passes, the highest so far in the lucrative tourney.
Mokoena played 30 games in all competitions, with two goals to his name, with more expected from him.
The Tshwane giants remain favorites to progress as they are in the quarter-finals of the competition.
The other top performers are Hamza Khabba of Raja Club Athletic who has five goals to his name.
Al-Hilal’s Makabi Lilelo has the highest number of shots ,24, in the competition.
In terms of assists, Ali Maâloul of Al Ahly leads, with four assists to his name.
Zamalek’s Ahmed Sayed made the most key passes and Horoya AC defender Kdadim Diaw leads in terms of tackles. He made 21 key interceptions.
Lastly, Petró de Luanda’s Tiago Azulão has the highest number of missed chances. Tiago Azulão failedto convert five clear chances in the games played so far.
