Jose Riveiro sends strong message to PSL teams

Orlando Pirates head coach Jose Riveiro has sent a strong message to PSL teams after his side picked a win against Richards Bay.

The Buccaneers defeated the Natal Rich Boyz 2-0 on the road in the DStv Premiership on Saturday at the King Zwelithini Stadium.

Despite having lost the league title to Mamelodi Sundowns, Riveiro says his side is going to end successfully. He says they will also be going all out for the Nedbank Cup.

He went on to warn the teams that are still going to square off with them that it’s going to take a special performance to down the high-flying Ezimnyama Ngenkani.

“It’s gonna be a successful season in the end,” he declared.

“We don’t know because there’s still a lot of games to play. We want to finish well, we want to go all the way in the Nedbank [Cup].

“The team is alive, the team is fresh, is ready, is hungry. Maybe we are not yet there in the end but what you can be sure about is we gonna fight.

“Our opponents are going to find tough opponents until the end [of the season]. And if someone wants to beat us, is gonna need to do a good performance.”

With their win over Vasili Manousakis’ side on Saturday, Pirates skipped SuperSport United to sit second on the log standings.

Meanwhile, Matsatsantsa drew 1-1 against Chippa United while Kaizer Chiefs defeated Stellenbosch FC with a 2-1 scoreline.

This has made the second spot race even more fascinating with the three aforementioned teams all at 40 points.

While the Sea Robbers are superior with goal difference, SuperSport are third and Chiefs are fourth on the table.

The next task for Pirates will see them travelling to Port Elizabeth to square off with Chippa United on Saturday, 08 April at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.
