AmaZulu supremo reveals their target for the rest of the season
AmaZulu FC president Sandile Zungu has revealed the club’s target for the remainder of the season with six matches left.
The KZN outfit, who are 12th on the DStv Premiership standings with 28 points, are targeting to finish in the top half just like last season after they finished seventh.
Usuthu is not far from their target, as they are only two points behind eighth-placed Stellenbosch FC.
AMAZULU’S TARGET
Zungu is optimistic his side can attain their target and play in the MTN8 next season after restructuring the technical team on Tuesday as Ayanda Dlamini replaced Romain Folz.
“Frankly, I see AmaZulu as contenders for a top-eight finish. If I am not sure that we will qualify for the top eight, I take action, and that’s what I’ve done now,” Zungu told SNAWA.
“Unfortunately, soccer is fast-paced, and before you know it, you are left with six games. You have to resort to things that people are accustomed to.”
ZUNGU ON EXED PLAYERS
Zungu further gave an update on Ramahlwe Mphahlele and Keagan Buchanan after Folz released the duo. He stated that the interim manager would make the final decision.
This publication revealed that Mphahlele was present during a training session with the rest of the squad on Wednesday morning as they prepared to face Cape Town City on Sunday.
“I will be advised by Ayanda Dlamini about the players who were told to go home by Folz. They are on our payroll and are our players.
“I will have a one-on-one meeting with the interim coach to hear his plan for the players,” he added.
